Tom Salisbury joined GKN Automotive as Director of Sustainability in January 2023 – a newly created role in the company, with the primary responsibility being to lead the delivery of GKN Automotive’s sustainability strategy.
Tom leads a team of people working across different workstreams across GKN Automotive’s sustainability program, ensuring the implementation of the strategy, as well as the business’ sustainability reporting and governance. Since joining GKN Automotive, the company has made significant strides towards its sustainability targets, including: the publication of GKN Automotive’s first sustainability report in 2023 and another in 2024, SBTi verification of GKN Automotive’s near and long-term carbon emissions reduction targets, and GKN Automotive’s first VPPA to help decarbonise its electricity usage.
Tom arrived at GKN Automotive with more than 15 years’ experience in sustainability teams within global organisations, including his previous role as Senior Sustainable Business Manager at Vodafone Group. There, he co-led the global environmental strategy and was responsible for Vodafone’s sustainability impact measurement, reporting and communications. Prior to that, Tom worked in the global sustainability teams at AB Inbev and SABMiller.
